Lots of app-related news , information and even contests today. We’ve got two ways for you to win. The first is the big one – RepConnect’s Tip of the Week…

This week’s RepConnect tip is all about sending documents and information to your customers, directly from your phone. This feature is called “share via email.” To check out this feature and enter a drawing for a $250 American Express gift card, go to the app and search for “Welch Allyn.” Open the listing and click on the “Library” button. From there, click on the “New Product” folder and then select the “Connex Vital Signs Monitor” document. Hit “share via email” and send to avinsant@mdsi.org. In the body of the email, include your name and contact information. That’s it! We’ll select the winner on Friday, March 18th, so email your information ASAP!

The second? Read through the following app suggestions…

Android and IPhone app – GasBuddy

With gasoline prices fluctuating, reps might take advantage of some mobile apps to help them find the lowest-cost-per gallon in their vicinity. GasBuddy, which is free on iPhone and Android devices is one; it lets you find gas stations based on proximity and price, and includes a map from Google so you can find your way. But according to a recent article in the New York Times, Where and Poynt — both free on Apple, BlackBerry and Android devices — also offer information on nearby food, business and entertainment locations, as well as gas stations. Users of Verizon’s VZ Navigator also get local gas prices.

Skype for iPhone users

Skype has introduced video chatting for iPhone users over both 3G and WiFi networks. Available to download from the Apple App Store, the Skype for iPhone App is said to allow iPhone, iPad and iPod touch owners to make and/or receive free Skype video calls for the first time. Calls can be made between devices using the new Skype for iPhone app and desktops including Skype for Windows 4.2 and above, Skype for Mac 2.8 and above, Skype for Linux and ASUS Videophone.
