This winter, turning up the heat should be no sweat. Honeywell recently introduced its latest connected home innovation – the Wi-Fi Smart Thermostat with voice control. The new voice technology allows consumers to activate their thermostat with a simple, “Hello, thermostat.” The thermostat utilizes advanced far-field voice-control technology, which is said to break through the ambient noise of a busy household and recognize commands from across a room. The cloud-based voice-controlled system, which currently recognizes such commands as “make it four degrees warmer” or “make it much cooler,” is expected to get smarter over time, eventually adding more commands based on its interactions with homeowners. The thermostat also offers Wi-Fi connectivity, allowing smartphone users to regulate their energy usage through their Honeywell’s Total Connect Comfort app. The system retails for $349 and is available through Lowes, Home Depot, Amazon and Best Buy.
